A Brief History
The name “Run of the River” comes from a book called Table of Contents where author John McPhee compares the rhythm of life to the flow of a river.
The original log home was built in 1978, as a private residence on the seasonal high water channel surrounded by a state owned wildlife refuge. The property was sold in 1986. The original B&B opened with just two guestrooms and a shared bath. The inn underwent some additional growth and in 1992, an additional residence was built for the innkeepers, allowing sole use of the original structure for guests only.
In 2001, the inn was closed and a major renovation was underway. Existing rooms were combined to create suite and two additional sites were added. Six guest suites that were much larger, more private and luxurious was the result.
In 2006, a separate 1150 sq. ft. log home was added to the property. Ravenwood Lodge is a private lodge/cabin and the perfect nest for two.
The Little Chapel of Amazing Grace was added to the property in 2013. The chalet was built by a local artisan Dave over 25 years ago and moved, with great pains, from his property to its new home at Run of the River. It is the perfect for small weddings, vow renewals and private, daily reflection.
