Steve and Jan Bollinger
and Fantasia "Fanny"
Steve and Jan have long been outdoor enthusiasts. They spent their early years together skiing, hiking, biking and climbing Fourteeners in Colorado.
Jan was born in Seattle, WA where her family has resided since 1872. Steve was born on Shaw Air force Base in Sumpter, SC and lived in upper Michigan and in Virginia.
Steve’s dad served our country in the United States Air Force and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant, while Jan’s dad served as a National Warning Officer in Cheyenne Mountain with the North American Defense Command. Ultimately, this brought both families to reside in Colorado Springs, Colorado where Steve and Jan met while working in Radiology and the ER respectively, at the city hospital.
The two married there and together with their children, have lived in Colorado, Arizona, Utah and Southern California. Steve has enjoyed a 35 year career in the medical field working in sales and as a VP and General Manager for companies such as Eastman Kodak Health Sciences. Jan has worked as a Trauma Intervention Counselor, taught broadcast journalism at the high school level, made documentary films and did contract work for the USDOD schools in Germany, Asia and Washington D.C. Additionally, she has a background in food, art and decorating.
Over the years, their jobs have continually taken them out of town (Steve still travels weekly), staying in a variety of hotels and accommodations. This has set the ground work for the standard of luxury, service and privacy that they enjoy the most. When considering which inn/B&B property to purchase in 2009, the bar that was by the previous owners was one of the determining factors in choosing Run of the River as their new home. The bar was set and they continually work with their staff to raise that bar to better serve each and every guest.
Together with their beloved Swiss Bernese Mountain Dog, Fantasia (“Fanny”) they look forward to welcoming you to Leavenworth and Run of the River Inn & Refuge.
